IGP reviews security, traffic arrangements for Darbar Move | KNO

Srinagar, Oct 31 (KNO): Inspector General of Police (IGP) Kashmir, V.K Birdi-IPS, Friday chaired a meeting at Police Control Room Kashmir to review and finalize the security and traffic arrangements for the smooth conduct of the Darbar Move from Srinagar to Jammu. The meeting was attended by senior officers from Traffic Police, Security Wing, intelligence agencies and other allied agencies including IGP Security J&K, IGP Traffic/Railways J&K, IG BSF Ftr Hqrs, IG CRPF KOS among others, a police spokesman said in a statement issued to the news agency—Kashmir News Observer (KNO). During the meeting, threadbare discussions were held on various aspects of the movement, including convoy security, route regulation, deployment of personnel, and coordination between district police units and traffic authorities. The IGP Kashmir emphasized the need for comprehensive area domination along the National Highway (Srinagar–Jammu axis) to ensure safe and uninterrupted passage of official vehicles and convoys. Shri V.K Birdi also directed the officers to intensify patrolling, nakas, enhance night checking and quick response teams be intensified at all vulnerable stretches, particularly in Qazigund, Banihal, Ramban, and Udhampur sectors. IGP Kashmir also reviewed security arrangements of railway stations in the Valley, directing officers to ensure enhanced surveillance, checking of passenger areas, and coordination with Railway Police for the safety of officials and their belongings moving via train. He stressed on inter-agency coordination, timely dissemination of movement schedules, and measures to minimize inconvenience to the public. Field officers were instructed to maintain high alertness, ensure foolproof security cover, and monitor movement in real-time. IGP Kashmir appreciated the efforts of all units involved and urged them to work in close synergy to ensure that the Darbar Move is conducted in a safe, smooth, and well-coordinated manner—(KNO)
